IUCN Red List of Ecosystems in Fiji - Training Workshop

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), together with its Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM), are pleased to inform about the three-day assessor training workshop on The Red List of Ecosystems (RLE) and how to correctly apply this IUCN's knowledge product categories and criteria, that was held in Suva, FijiThe workshop was jointly coordinated by the IUCN Oceania Regional Office (ORO) and the RLE Thematic Group, and will count with the attendance of  IUCN staff in ORO, local governments, International agencies and NGO representatives. The training led by members from the RLE Thematic Group, has the objective of presenting pilot applications on how to combine scientific and traditional knowledge for designing and implementing Nature-based Solutions (NbS), and building capacities for a future RLE assessment in the region.

IUCN Red List of Ecosystems Training Workshop

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), together with its Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM), are pleased to invite you to a one-day training workshop on The Red List of Ecosystems (RLE) and how to correctly apply this IUCN knowledge product´s categories and criteria. The IUCN RLE, underpinned by strong scientific-foundations, evaluates the change in ecosystem distribution and function using quantitative measures and thresholds thus informing better ecosystem management solutions and helping identify areas that need fast and effective actions.

IUCN Red List of Ecosystems Introductory workshop

The first IUCN Red List of Ecosystems (RLE) Introductory workshop was held on October 17th 2017 in Gland, IUCN HQ in Switzerland. The purpose of this exploratory workshop was to highlight the relevance of the IUCN RLE and showcase why and how to implement its approach through different case studies. Participants also had exploratory discussions on engagement opportunities with IUCN RLE.
