Between July 25th and October 5th we received and published over 200 photographs of worldwide ecosystems that belong to two categories of participation (Wild Beauty and The Changing World) through the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems’ Facebook. Those who visited the facebook page during this time had the opportunity to vote for the photos of their choice, leading to a list of winners for the first round of competition. A total of 40 photographs of each of the world regions (Africa, America, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, and Oceania) in each of the two categories (Wild Beauty and The Changing World) classified in this round:
Once these 40 photographs were selected, chosen participants moved on to the second round in which a qualified jury is currently selecting three (3) overall winners (first, second, and third place) for each of the two categories (Wild Beauty, The Changing World). Furthermore, all the photographs that classified in the first round will be exhibited in the "Nature-Based Solutions" pavilion at the IUCN World Parks Congress, held in Sydney, Australia, from november 12th to 19th 2014, where an additional (1) winner will be selected by the visitors’ votes. The contest winners will be announced at the Pavilion "Nature-Based Solutions" on November 18th and also through the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.
