With a total of 661 votes in favor, 8 against and 26 abstained, the V World Conservation Congress, during sessions on September 12th 2012 in Jeju, Republic of Korea, adopted motion 72 on the consolidation of the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems.
During the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Jeju, Republic of Korea, the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management will gather experts to share experiences on the application of categories and criteria for an IUCN Red List of Ecosystems and promote the involvement of more researchers.

The special issue of S.A.P.I.EN.S. (Surveys and Perspectives Integrating Environment and Society) dedicated to IUCN Commissions has just been published. The electronic version is available. A limited number of publications in hard copy and on USB sticks will be available at IUCN World Conservation Congress. All articles can also be read and downloaded separately.
During the last few months, the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management has been working on a new website to gather information on the development of the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems. The goal of this website is to allow public participation on the development, implementation and monitoring of a global standard to assess the risk of collapse of ecosystems, which can be applied at local, regional and global levels.
