The IUCN Red List of Ecosystems: an ally in nature valuation

A new article about the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems has been recently published in the book "Valuing Nature: Protected Areas and Ecosystem Services". It is based on the presentations carried out during the Valuing Nature Symposium held on July 21st and 22nd, 2014 in Brisbane, Australia.

For the second consecutive year, the Red List of Ecosystems is a finalist of the Eureka Award in Australia

Once again, the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems is finalist of the Eureka Award in the environmental research area. Such award is yearly presented by the prestigious Australian Museum and rewards excellence in the fields of research and innovation, leadership, science, communication and journalism; and science at school level. It is granted to people and teams involved in outstanding research projects that lead to an environmental problem resolution, including a proposed challenge regarding climate change, environmental management and protection of the Australian environment.

New tools to support risk assessments of ecosystem collapse

We have created a section on the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems website called Tools (in the Resources tab). In it you will find some applications to support the risk assessments of ecosystem collapse, based on this new global standard.

The special number of June of Austral Ecology dedicated to IUCN Red List of Ecosystems is already available

The June 2015 edition of the Austral Ecology journal was dedicated to the risk assessments with the application of the protocol of IUCN Red List of Ecosystems in environments of the world. The invited editor was researcher David Keith, who is coleaders, along with Jon Paul Rodriguez, the group thematic of the Red List of Ecosystems in the Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM).
